1 Day Chimpanzee Trekking Safari in Gombe National Park

Gombe National Park chimpanzee trekking. The Gombe day excursion takes around an hour and a half to get to Gombe Stream National Park by boat, which leaves Kigoma town every day at 6:00 am. For visitors with little time who wish to experience chimpanzee trekking, this chimpanzee day tour—also referred to as a weekend getaway—is perfect.

Gombe Stream National Park is one of the Tanzania smallest pristine parks located in the Eastern Shore of Lake Tanganyika. This park, which is 35 km2 in size and covered in lush tropical rain forest, is located on the Great Rift Valley Escarpment and provides a secure habitat for chimpanzees.

Although chimpanzee trekking is the primary attraction of the Gombe day trip, you will also see other primates. Primates include baboons, blue monkeys, vervet monkeys, red colobus monkeys, and bush babies. Gombe National Park is a fantastic place to see birds because it is home to more than 200 different kinds.

You should arrive prepared if you want to get the most out of your day excursion to Gombe. To protect yourself from insects in the underbrush, wear lightweight, long-sleeved clothing and comfortable hiking shoes. To stay hydrated, pack a hat, sunscreen, and lots of drink. For wildlife viewing, binoculars are essential, and don’t forget your camera to take pictures. Keep in mind that the park has a stringent “leave no trace” regulation, so you must take everything you brought with you.

Ngamba Island Chimpanzee

It’s wonderful to walk through the forest looking for chimpanzees. You can hear the noises that chimpanzees use to communicate with one another from a distance. We will be able to track the chimpanzees to their feeding and hiding places with the aid of our Gombe day excursion guide. We will trek uphill to the Kakombe waterfalls as we continue our chimp tracking. We will now take in the breathtaking vista of the park and Lake Tanganyika, which borders it. As we continue to take in the breathtaking vista and landscape of Gombe Stream National Park, we will also have a picnic lunch.

Following lunch, we will resume our walk down the hill in search of several chimpanzee and other primate families. Additionally, our guides will assist us in identifying various birds and provide us with information on the many fruits that chimps consume.
We will take a boat from Gombe National Park chimpanzee trekking to Kigoma town at 16:00 in the afternoon, after which we will check into a hotel there.
