1-Day Tarangire National Park Safari: Elephant Spectacular

Tarangire National Park has a really unique quality. Despite being one of Tanzania’s smaller parks—dare we say boutique?—don’t be fooled by its diminutive size. Tarangire National Park boasts a vast array of breathtaking scenery, expansive skies, and, of course, a diverse array of species. However, people who are well-informed travel to see the elephants. Our Elephant Spectacular Day Safari will allow you to get up close and personal with the amazing African bush elephants that Tarangire is known for. It’s also a fantastic taster safari; if you’ve never been to Tanzania before, this day excursion is an excellent way to get ready for longer safaris.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1 Arusha – Tarangire National Park

We will pick you up from your Arusha accommodation, and after two to three hours of driving, you will reach Tarangire National Park. Hemmingway frequently went on safaris to hunt large animals in this area. They transformed the seasonal marshes and the boundless grasslands that are visible today into lucrative hunting grounds once more after the national parks were established in 1970. Fortunately, cameras have taken the role of elephant guns nowadays.

Elephants can be seen year-round in Tarangire National Park, which has the largest density of these animals in North Tanzania. Herds of elephants there can frequently number up to 300. There is water in the Tarangire River throughout the year, and many animals from the surrounding areas come to drink during the dry season, which runs from July to October.

You will be able to see amazing animals like lions, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests, and zebras, as well as different kinds of antelopes and gazelles, and if you are lucky, you may even see a python, if you visit the park during the dry season. With more than 550 species, including the largest bird in the world, the Masai Ostrich, this region is a birdwatcher’s paradise during the dry season. Before continuing your wildlife viewing in the afternoon, you will pause at a suitable picnic area around lunchtime. You will be returned to your Arusha hotel before dusk.
