Detailed: 12 Days Kenya Classic Safari

Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli National Reserve.

Upon arrival at the JKI airport, our representative will meet you with the guide for a briefing about your 12 days classic Kenya safari. You will then drive to Amboseli National Park that takes approximately 5-6 hours, a fantastic park with great views of Mount Kilimanjaro, and is one of the best places in Africa where you can encounter large herds of elephants. You’ll arrive in time for lunch at your booked lodge.

After lunch, you’ll head out onto the plains for a late afternoon game drive to explore the park. 12 Days Kenya Classic Safari

Day 2: Amboseli National Reserve

Amboseli National Park

Wake up early for a morning game drive and be back to the lodge for a late breakfast. Return to the Park with either packed lunch in search of over 600 species of birds, big cats, and many other species of mammals including all the Big Five. Spent the rest of your day in the park.

Day 3&4: Transfer from Amboseli to Tsavo.

After breakfast, you will drive to Tsavo West which takes about 2hours of drive-through wilderness and will include a stop at the Shetani lava flows. Upon arrival at the park, you will head to your booked lodge.

After lunch you’ll head out on a late afternoon game drive, which will include a visit to the Mzima Springs, returning to Kilaguni for dinner and an evening relaxing and watching the wildlife arrive at the watering hole.

You will spend the next day on morning and afternoon game drives with lunch and dinner at the lodge.

Day 5: Drive from Tsavo to Nairobi

After breakfast you will head back to Nairobi with a picnic lunch, arriving in time for dinner at your booked hotel. Have dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Nairobi City Tour

After breakfast, you will head out for a day of sightseeing, the first stop will be the elephant orphanage, where you can meet rescued baby elephants being rehabilitated for release back into the wild. Lunch will be at the historical Karen Blixen Coffee House, followed by a short visit to the Karen Blixen Museum, and finally, you will head over to the Giraffe Centre to meet and feed the giraffes, the center is a breeding program for the now rare Rothschild giraffe, which can only be found in small numbers in the wild. You will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park

After an early breakfast, you will depart Nairobi for Lake Nakuru that takes 3-4 hours of drive. The park hosts over 400 different species of birds including large numbers of pelicans and sometimes flamingoes. Nakuru is a great place to get up close to white rhino and you can also see the rare Rothschild giraffe. There are many other mammals including zebra, buffalo, waterbuck, and lions. 12 Days Kenya Classic Safari

After lunch, you can enjoy the views of the Nakuru from the lodge before heading out on a game drive to explore the lake area. At sunset, you will head back to the lodge for dinner and an evening relaxing.

Day 8: Lake Nakuru NP – Lake Naivasha

After breakfast, you will head out on a morning game drive leaving the park late morning to head down the Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha where you will arrive in time for lunch. After lunch, you will head out on a boat safari across the lake where you may see hippos and many species of birds including fish eagles, and pelicans. Day 9: Drive to Maasai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, you will depart for the open grassland of the Maasai Mara driving for approximately 4 – 5 hours. Arrive at your booked lodge in the afternoon and have lunch. After lunch, do an evening game drive in the park where the sighting of the big 5 is very easy as the sets down.

Day 10 & 11: Game Drives – Maasai Mara

For the next two days, in the morning after having breakfast, the guide will transfer you to the park offices for briefing then game drive sighting where you will look out for animals like the cheetah, elephants, lions, buffaloes, rhinos, hartebeests, etc. break off for lunch at your hotel or have a picnic lunch set on one of the reserve sites. 12 Days Kenya Classic Safari

After lunch, drive back to the park for another splendid game drive as you enjoy passing through the beautiful plains of the reserve.

Day 12: Maasai Mara – Nairobi

After having breakfast, proceed for an early morning game drive then head back to Nairobi with a picnic lunch. The Journey takes 5-6 hours.

You will be dropped at your booked hotel for an overnight or as you wait for your flight back home.
