4 Days Gombe Chimpanzee Trekking Safari – Gombe Stream National Park is located in the western region of Kigoma, Tanzania. The park was established in 1968 being one of the smallest parks in Tanzania covering only 35km squared of protected land along the hills of the eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika. The park is only accessible by boat, and is most famous as the location where Jane Goodall conducted her behavioral research on the chimpanzee populations.

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha – Tanzania

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro international airport, you will be met by our guide/driver who will transfer you to Kibirizi port for your boat to Gombe Stream National Park. You will have a relaxed day depending on your arrival time. – 4 Days Gombe Chimpanzee Trekking Safari

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking – Gombe National Park

After breakfast, you will set off for a chimpanzee tracking tour in the forest. Gombe Stream National Park’s main attraction is obviously the chimpanzee families that live and protected inside the park’s boundaries. 4 Days Gombe Chimpanzee Trekking Tour

Apart from chimpanzee viewing, many other species of primates live in these tropical forests. Colobus monkeys, baboons, forest pigs, and dik-dik inhabit the dense forest as well as a wide variety of tropical birdlife. Later in the evening, you will head to your booked lodge for your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Second Chimpanzee Trekking – Gombe National Park

After breakfast, you will take another day of chimpanzee tracking in the forest. Gombe Stream National Park became well-known for the conservation project started by Jane Goodall, who first arrived in Gombe in 1960.

You will climb to Jane’s peak and visit Kakombe waterfalls if time allows. As the sun sets, you will return to the lodge for your dinner and overnight stay. – 4 Days Gombe Chimpanzee Trekking Tour

Day 4: Departure (from Gombe – Kigoma – airport)

After breakfast, you will be transferred by boat back to Kigoma town. Upon arrival, you will be picked up and transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
