Detailed Itinerary: 5 Days Serengeti and Gorilla Trekking Safari

Day 1: Early morning pick up in Arusha and transfer to Serengeti National Park.

Your tour guide will pick you up from Arusha in the morning, either at your home or at a hotel. After receiving a trip briefing, hop into your safari car and head to Serengeti National Park. Prior to checking into the park for an evening game drive, take a cultural tour. Look for wildlife throughout the park paths and take in as much jungle action as nature has to offer that night. Great predators like lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and jackals, as well as hundreds of zebras, buffalos, and elephants, are among the creatures that may be seen in the Serengeti plains. Check in for supper and the night at your designated hotel by sundown.

Day 2: Have a morning game drive and return to Arusha by afternoon.

After breakfast, bring a packed lunch and go on a morning game drive in the park. Enjoy the opportunity to witness a variety of wildlife species as they begin their multi-hour day at sunrise. There is a greater probability of encountering spotted hyenas and other large cats and predators during morning game drives. Return to Arusha by road after the wildlife drive. Either fly to Entebbe International Airport and spend the night there, or spend the night in Arusha.

Day 3: Pick up from Entebbe and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You will be picked up for a trip to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park either upon arrival or from an Entebbe hotel. Transferring to the extreme western part of Uganda, where the mountain gorillas live, requires a multi-hour car trip. Arrive in the evening and spend the night and dine at the hotel.

Day 4: Mountain Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest

You will receive a training on the guidelines for Uganda gorilla safaris at the park headquarters following an early breakfast. Eight visitors in all are assigned to a single gorilla family based on their trekking skill level during the briefing. Depending on where the gorillas slept the night before, each party is escorted by a park ranger for two to six hours at the beginning of the walk. A maximum of one hour is allotted for photography and breathtaking moments with the gentle giants once you encounter them. A gorilla trekking certificate is given to you at the park headquarters after the walk. After that, your driver-guide makes sure you get to Lake Bunyonyi safely so you can unwind and have some refreshments. Take a hotel room close to the nation’s deepest lake for the night.

Day 5: Early morning road transfer to Entebbe International Airport for a departure flight.

You will be taken back to Entebbe International Airport for your trip out of Lake Bunyonyi. Depending on your arrival time, get in Entebbe during the afternoon and either go shopping or head directly to the airport.
