Detailed: 8 Days Kenya Samburu and Maasai Mara Safari

Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu.

Upon arrival in Nairobi city in the morning, you will be picked by our guide/driver who will brief you about your 8 days safari and then drive north through the farmlands of the Kikuyu people, passing Mt Kenya, Africa’s second-highest mountain heading to Samburu. Just outside the national reserve, visit a local Samburu village meeting the Samburu people who are a proud warrior tribe.

Watch traditional Samburu dancing, and learn about Samburu tribal life and customs. The walk within the village is run by Samburu tribesmen for the benefit of the community. 8 Days Kenya Safari

Continue to Samburu National Reserve for an afternoon wildlife safari drive in search of large elephant and big cat populations living within this wild part of Kenya.

Day 2: Game Drive – Samburu National Reserve

After breakfast, have a full-day wildlife safari drive to spot a group of animals only seen north of the equator, such as the beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, Grevy’s zebra, the majestic reticulated giraffe, and the long-necked gerenuk, a graceful antelope that stands upright on its hind legs to feed on tall bushes.

Day 3: Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, depart Samburu and drive with stops at the Thomson falls and Great Rift Valley arriving in Nakuru in the late evening. The journey will take 6-7 hours of drive. Check-in into the booked lodge, have dinner, and overnight.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru National Park

Wake up early to enjoy the early morning game drive in Lake Nakuru national park in search of the resident black rhino, buffalo, impala, and the elusive leopard and return to the lodge for full breakfast. 8 Days Kenya Safari

After breakfast, return to the Park with a packed lunch for a full day game viewing and will be returning back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Maasai Mara National Reserve

After a relaxed breakfast, depart for Maasai Mara National Reserve passing through the open plains and distinctive flat-topped acacia trees. Arrive in the afternoon at the right time for lunch. The journey takes 5-6 hours of drive. Relax at your booked lodge for the next day.

Day 6: Game Drive – Maasai Mara National Reserve

With a very early warm breakfast, catch the morning game wildlife safari drive. It is the best time to spot animals and crisscross the rolling hills of the African savannah. With a full day to explore the area, we can cover a lot of ground looking out for the cheetah, elephants, lions, buffaloes, rhinos, hartebeests, leopards, etc.

Day 7: Transfer to Nairobi

Enjoy an early morning game viewing to spot the “big five” and later drive back to the lodge for breakfast and check out heading back to Nairobi where you will be arriving late afternoon and check into your booked hotel. 8 Days Kenya Safari

Day 8: Airport Drop off

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your outbound flight marking the end of your Safari in Kenya.
