Detailed Itinerary 6 Days Mount Elgon Hiking Safari
Day 1: Drive from Entebbe / Kampala to Mbale
After having an early breakfast, your driver/guide will transfer you to Mount Elgon National park.
Pass via Mukono, have a visit at the Ssezibwa falls that flow from the Ssezibwa River brought about the wetlands between Lake Victoria and Lake Kyoga.
Activities at the Ssezibwa falls include Guided nature walks, bird watching for bird lovers, mountain biking, Primate Walks, and Rock climbing among others.
Continue to Jinja to have a boat ride at the Source of the Nile to exploit the beautiful nature on the river and on its banks. Have lunch in Jinja town as you proceed to your accommodation in Mbale for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Budadiri to Sasa Camp (2900m)
After having an early breakfast, the driver will transfer you to the park headquarters for briefing. With the Park rangers, porters, and the cooks, set off for the hike at 1250meters passing through the steep slopes, rainforests, and the baboon zone to reach the Sasa River camp at 2900m where you will camp for the night and prepare for the next morning.
Day 3: Sasa Camp to Mude Camp (3500m)
After having breakfast at the campsite, proceed through the rainforests to get to Mude Camp that’s at an elevation of 600m. The hike normally takes approximately 5 hours. Overnight camping at Mude campsite
Day 4: Wagagai Peak (4321m)
On this day, you will wake up a bit early, have breakfast and proceed with the hike because it’s a round trip. Trek through the moorland zone up to the Wagagai peak. This will be a hike of 821m. Descend back to Mude camp for overnight.
Day 5: Mude camp – Budadiri
After having breakfast, you will start descending through the steep mountain to Budadiri point where you will be picked by your driver/Guide to Mbale where you will overnight.
Day 6: Transfer from Mbale to Entebbe/Kampala.
After having breakfast, take an eye look through the beautiful Mbale town, as you proceed to Entebbe for your flight back home. End of safari
