Detailed Itinerary: Kenya and Tanzania Safari

Day 1: Arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi and transfer to hotel.

Your Africa Reveal safari guide will be there to pick you up and take you to the hotel when you arrive at the airport. This will take place following your airport clearance. With the help of your driving guide, you will be driven to a hotel where you will recuperate from jet lag, have dinner, and spend the night.

Day 2: Transfer from Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

African Wildlife – Animals of Amboseli National Park in Kenya

Early in the morning, you will be picked up from your accommodation and driven to Amboseli National Park, arriving in time for lunch. The iconic Hollywood representation of Africa can be found at Amboseli National Park. Massive herds of elephants, along with lions, buffalo, cheetahs, giraffes, baboons, gazelle hippo, and wildebeest, move around against the stunning backdrop of the far-off Mount Kilimanjaro.

The park warden will offer you some commonsense guidelines when you get there, such staying on the tracks, remembering that animals always have the right of way, getting out of your car only in authorised areas, and not bothering the animals in any way. The afternoon will then be spent on a quick game drive.

Even though it is only 392 square kilometres in size, this delicate ecosystem is home to more than 400 species of birds and well over 50 species of mammals. Its terrain is a mix of wetlands, rocky thorn bush, acacia woodland, and plains. A long dry season and this diversity guarantee great views of the numerous African creatures that inhabit this natural area. The loose volcanic soil surface of Amboseli’s roads makes them impassable during the rainy season and dusty during the dry one.

Day 3: Spend a full day at Amboseli National Park

Spend the entire day in Amboseli, exploring the park with morning and afternoon game drives. See vast herds of elephants, which are known to call this park home. With its stunning vistas of Kilimanjaro and consistently excellent elephant sighting, Amboseli is a popular destination. Here, nature enthusiasts can explore five distinct habitats, including the savannah, woods, wetlands with sulphur springs, and the dried-up bottom of Lake Amboseli.

Additionally, you can experience the genuine culture of the Maasai people that reside in the park by going to see them. The nocturnal porcupine, buffalo, elephant, giraffe, zebra, lion, crocodile, mongoose, hyrax, dik-dik, smaller Kudu, leopard, cheetah, wild dogs, and buffalo are among the animals that can be found here. Additionally, there are 600 different species of birds. Return to the lodge later in the evening for dinner and the night.

Day 4: Amboseli to Lake Naivasha for a sunset boat ride & Crescent Island walk

Amazing Lake Naivasha and Hells Gate National Park Safari | Kenya

After breakfast, go to Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake on the Great Rift Valley Floor, via Nairobi from Amboseli. You’ll get there in time for lunch and a nap. After that, you will take a beautiful sunset boat ride to watch the hippos and stroll around Crescent Island, which is home to only herbivores and wildlife. A wide variety of game is drawn to these coastlines by the lake’s waters. While the large population of hippopotamuses in the lake sleeps the day out in the shallows, colobus monkeys cry from the treetops, buffalo slither in the swamps, and giraffes roam among the acacia.

On the eastern shore of Lake Naivasha sits Crescent Island, a private wildlife sanctuary. Compared to other Kenyan parks, the Island has more animals per acre. With a range of creatures such as giraffes, zebras, Thompson’s and Grant’s gazelles, waterbuck, eland, and several bird species, you may have a great and simple guided walking safari here (about an hour on plain ground). Near the island shoreline, it’s also typical to see hippos taking a bath or lounging in the sun. The animals are allowed to roam freely to and from the mainland because the island is not fenced. Later, eat dinner and spend the night in a Naivasha lodge.

Day 5: Transfer from Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru

Drive 120 km (1 hour 30 minutes) from the Lake Naivasha hotel to Lake Nakuru. Take pleasure in game viewing drives in Lake Nakuru National Park. Visitors can take in the diverse range of habitats and ecological richness found in this shallow alkaline lake, which extends from Lake Nakuru itself to the nearby escarpment and scenic peaks.

The primary activity at Lake Nakuru is the game drive. In Nakuru’s natural life, foragers, grazers, hunters, and scavengers all have their responsibilities to perform. The flamingos are among the more than 450 bird species found in the park. Game drives, hiking, picnics, and bird watching are all excellent at the national park. The park is renowned for having some of the best ornithological displays in the world. The Rothschild giraffe, impala, black and white rhino sanctuaries, zebras, gazelles, and other large species can all be found in Lake Nakuru National Park. After a game drive in the afternoon, head back to the lodge for dinner and the night.

Day 6: Drive from Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara National Reserve

Make your way to the Masai Mara Game Reserve in time for lunch. The pure, ethereally beautiful Masai Mara National Reserve offers tourists an abundance of wildlife, a plethora of birdlife, and the once-in-a-lifetime chance to see all five of the “Big Five” in a single morning.

This veteran reserve’s 1,800 square kilometres provide the quintessential blend of African landscapes: miles of lion-gold grasslands, shoals of hills with lilac bushes, a winding river, acres of thornbush and endless miles of rolling solitude. The rich population of resident game in the Masai Mara, which includes the Big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino) as well as well-known species like zebra, giraffe, hyena, eland, and gazelle, makes for great year-round game viewing.

Your first introduction to the park will be an afternoon game viewing to see the Big Five. Perhaps the most well-known wildlife sanctuary in Kenya is the Masai Mara. It is Kenya’s most well-known and often visited game reserve. Much of the movie “Out of Africa” was shot in this reserve. The Mara is home to almost every kind of animal. The yearly migration of millions of gazelles, zebras, and wildebeest from the Serengeti plains across the Tanzanian border and the Mara River to the Masai Mara grazing areas in late June is a sight to behold. From early July to August, one may witness the spectacular river crossing and the predators hunting on the migrants.

Day 7: Spend a full day on game drives in Masai Mara National Reserve

AFRICAN SAFARI TOUR – Maasai Mara National Preserve KENYA

You will go on morning and afternoon game drives during your full day in the Maasai Mara National Reserve. One of Africa’s greatest chances to view lions and cheetahs is at the reserve. The finest opportunity to see and see firsthand as millions of wildebeests migrate across the swollen Mara River, which is plagued with crocodiles, is to visit this reserve in July.

The migration, which is a cyclical annual cycle fuelled by rainfall, is a spectacular mass movement of about two million gazelles, zebras, and wildebeests. Wildebeests must bravely cross rivers to go to the fresh grazing in the Masai Mara, where they must eat the Mara grasslands and refuel in front of massive crocodiles. Dinner, lodging, and meals at the lodge

Day 8: Transfer from Masai Mara to Nairobi then to Arusha.

Early in the morning, depart Masai Mara and make your way to Nairobi, from where you will thereafter travel across the Namanga border to Arusha, Tanzania. Get there in the evening so you can stay the night and have dinner. Dinner and lodging at the Green Mountain Hotel

Day 9: Arusha city tour

You will be picked up from the hotel and taken to Arusha, the safari hub of Tanzania. A visit to the Tanzanite market, where you can shop before you leave and discover amazing crafts, is part of the city tour. Dinner and lodging at the Green Mountain Hotel

Day 10: Departure

You will be picked up from the hotel in Arusha following breakfast, and you will then be taken to Kilimanjaro Airport to catch your journey home.
