The park has the name of the late Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, who founded the country. The Park was created in 2019 and spans more than 30,000 square km of land. Nyerere National Park boasts Africa’s largest wilderness area and comparatively intact ecological and biological processes, including a wide variety of species with important predator-prey relationships.

You can see aquatic life on this safari, primarily crocodiles and hippos. Enjoy a breathtaking sunset while observing some animals that have come to drink and an incalculable number of bird species, as the reserve is home to over 440 different species. Return for dinner in the late evening and spend the night at Selous Mapumziko Lodge. Dinner and lunch are included.

Day 2 of the Nyerere National Park safari– Full day game drive at Selous Game Reserve

After an early breakfast at seven in the morning, you will go to the Selous Game Reserve. With the help of a professional guide and a specially modified safari vehicle, you will go on a full-day game drive where you will likely see and learn about a variety of animals, including the popular lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, and all the other important species, including the uncommon African hunting dog.

Along with stunning landscape and a diverse topography that includes wetlands, dry grasslands, light acacia forests, and higher territory with expansive vistas of distant mountains, there will also be a wide diversity of bird species. Take pleasure in your packed lunch and relax.

To ensure that no predator can approach undetected, your guide will choose a spot with shade and water close by where you can observe the animals arriving to drink. By 6:30 p.m., you will return to Selous Mapumziko Lodge for dinner and sunset. Included are breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 3 – Early morning walking safari and depart to Dar es Salaam

To learn about the history of the reserve, including its traditional medicinal trees, animal tracks, and other small animals that are not visible during the game drive, you will go on an early morning walking safari with a bushman. Then you will return to the camp for breakfast.
